FORMULATION AND BENEFIT – HIRUSCAR SILICONE PRO
Hiruscar Silicone Pro’s four key ingredients work synergistically to lighten, flatten and soften scars.
Widely known among doctors as a first-line, non-invasive option for the treatment and prevention of raised and red scars, silicone gel works through the following mechanisms:
Preventing Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL)
The silicone gel forms a protective barrier to prevent moisture from escaping through the epidermis of the skin. In scar care, maintaining hydration levels is important because the surrounding cells of dehydrated scars are stimulated to create excess collagen, leading to prominent scarring.
Creating a physical barrier between the skin and external bacteria
Sealing the skin with a silicone gel layer protects it from bacterial invasion, which can cause abnormal collagen production and heavier scarring.
The silicone gel film normalizes the hydration of surrounding skin which helps to reduce the the discomfort of pain and itching associated with wound healing.
Modulating the expression of fibroblast growth factors
The use of silicone gel in scar management increases basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) levels. It is a key cytokine involved in scar formation and balances activity in the wound bed so that collagen production is regulated, and hypertrophic scars prevented.
Mucopolysaccharide Polysulphate (MPS)
A key, patented ingredient in all Hiruscar products, the natural anti-inflammatory mucopolysaccharide polysulphate encourages the productivity of hyaluronic acid and increases hydration for improved cell regeneration. MPS ensures that skin is kept moisturised and strengthened as it heals.
The antioxidant vitamin C is often used in skin treatments to minimise hyperpigmentation. In Hiruscar Silicone Pro, it works by fading marks and reducing redness, leaving scars less noticeable.
This soothing, moisturising antioxidant provides healthy support for scars by strengthening the skin’s barrier function, increasing elasticity, boosting hydration levels and reducing inflammation.
