Our skin is a unique organ, as we can impact its health from inside out.
It is important to provide our skin enough nutrients to build a strong and healthy barrier. A healthy skin is well-hydrated skin!
Dry skin happens. Help your body repair and regenerate by gently exfoliating either before you shower with a dry brush or in the shower with a gentle exfoliating scrub.
This helps to slough off dead skin cells. But be gentle! A dry brush should be soft and made of natural fibres. Make light small circular strokes with the brush working from your toes to your shoulders. An exfoliating scrub in the shower is equally good. Try making your own body scrub!
Brown Sugar Body Scrub:
- 1 cup organic brown sugar
- 1 cup organic cane sugar
- 1/2 – 1 cup sweet almond oil
Mix together in a glass sealable container & voila! A gentle, delicious smelling body scrub!
Don’t Fear Oil
Oil is the key to moisturising your skin from the outside and plants have just the key! Start your moisturising routine using plant-based oils. Oil might sound too greasy to put on our skin, especially our face, but the right type of oil will absorb quickly, balance sebum production and hydrate skin to diminish fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful and healthy complexion!
From your scalp to your heels, oil is key to luxurious, hydrated skin! Use oils as your face moisturiser, hair treatments, add them to your bath or use them to remove your makeup. There are so many ways to use plant oils!
Looking for a body or face oil: The best face oils are natural products made from pure oils and other plant-based ingredients avoiding synthetic petrolatum and mineral oil. Food grade oils are best, after all our skin is our largest organ.
Try sweet almond oil, coconut oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, avocado oil, lavender oil etc.
Treat your skin, go beyond just lathering the outsides of your skin in healthy oils. Healthy fats are the route to soft, supple and youthful skin. Think of them as a moisturiser for your insides!
Healthy omega-3 fatty acids do more than just moisturise, they also help to reverse the signs of aging by diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
Foods that contain Omega-3 fatty acids include seafood, especially tuna and salmon, as well as walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed.
Many plant-based fats, such as olive oil, coconut oil and avocado are great oils that has ample healthy fat benefits! Not all fats are bad!
Incorporate Healthy Oils:
Add 1 tsp of olive oil into savoury vegetable juice, like the mean green, or mix it into a warm cup of vegetable broth for a delicious Reboot-friendly skin healthy beverage!
